This web site is created as a part of the project “UPDATING AND EXTENDING THE NATIONAL ACTION PLAN ON CLIMATE CHANGE”.

The main purpose of the project is to assist the Ministry of Environment and Waters with developing and implementing an updated and extended National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), which is in conformity with the European Climate Change Program (ECCP) and the Kyoto Protocol. By assisting Bulgaria to update and to extend the NAPCC a step forward will be made towards compliance to the European legislation, and governmental institutions will be strengthened in their capacity to handle the full policy cycle of policy preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Updating and extending the NAPCC can serve as a case for integration of policy in other relevant sectoral policy areas and for involvement of industry and the civil society in the identification of new policies. The project is funded by Senter International .

The Bulgarian counterpart in the project is the Strategy Accession Programmes and Projects Department of the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Waters. The project is carried out in close cooperation with the Energy Institute, the nominated partner. During the scope of the project also other Bulgarian organisations will be involved.

The consortium combines the experience and expertise of DHV Environment and Infrastructure , ECN and CAP SD. It combines knowledge on climate policy making and implementation of measures with profound knowledge on EU-accession requirements and the international climate change agreements. Furthermore, the consortium is very well acquainted with the local situation and institutions and has an extensive network of contacts in Bulgaria through experience in recent projects.
