Common Ground meeting in Bulgaria on agriculture, food, alternatives and action
Source: A SEED Europe
From the 10th until the 18th of July an international meeting in Bulgaria on food and farming will be held. The aim of the event is to network, inspire, share experiences and find a “common ground” amongst environmentalists, farmers and activists from across Europe.
“It is becoming clear that the current intensive industrial approach to agriculture is unsustainable. It is time to define common alternatives for agriculture that satisfy the needs of all sectors of society, and not only the interests of corporations. We also need a model for agriculture that acknowledges the cycles and limits of nature” the organisers from Action for solidarity, equality, environment and diversity - A SEED Europe said.
They are looking for people interested on the issue of food and agriculture who would participate: non-governmental organisations’ representatives, but also enthusiastic individuals; progressive farmers, but also people from cities that want to work on food issues.
The situation of farmers in different regions, European agricultural policy and the changes in farming after the EU enlargement, GMOs, sustainable organic agriculture, local food distribution will be among the issues discussed.
The meeting will take place in the Bulgarian countryside where is practised sustainable agriculture.
