New report describes the green transition challenges in several countries

A new report describes the challenges of the green transition in several countries: Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. It contains an overview of the occurrence and likelihood of extreme climate events in the four countries, information on the current status of energy, decarbonisation and cimate change mitigation reforms, as well as an overview of the political and media context in which these reforms are taking place.
The report was produced as part of the international project Science and Journalism for Climate Action funded by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The aim of the initiative was to counter the insufficient and often misleading coverage of climate change mitigation measures in the media in Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Serbia. We believe that improved communication between climate journalists and scientists is key to solving this problem. So we built a community of more than 150 journalists and scientists, provided them with hands-on training and helped them work together to produce science-based journalism articles that cover different aspects of climate change. We have also encouraged cross-border regional cooperation to exchange knowledge and experience.
The project took place from 2021 to 2023 and was implemented by the BlueLink Foundation in partnership with Klimateka (Bulgaria), Klima101 (Serbia), Masfel Fok (Hungary), InfoClima (Romania).
The Climate Science and Journalism Initiative is funded by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The main objective of EUKI is to promote climate cooperation within the European Union (EU) and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
