How we use the Internet strategically? 7 stories of civic activism

BlueLink - the civic action network tells 7 stories of strategic use of information and internet technologies by the members of the civic association RavniBG (EqualBG).

RavniBG unites 37 civil organizations that believe in democratic values and work in the field of human rights protection, vulnerable groups, sustainable development, advocacy and other areas. The entity includes over 30 organizations from over 15 settlements from different regions of Bulgaria.
Along with ongoing coordination and cooperation on various initiatives and projects, coinciding with the objectives of the association, the members annually allocate funds to projects chosen by them from the Solidarity Fund of RavniBG. The fund, as well as the activity of the association, is administered by the Bulgarian Women's Fund (BFW).

It is the Solidarity Fund finances the realization of 7 stories of information technologies for human rights and nature by BlueLink. The stories fully comply with the mission and strategic plan of BlueLink - one of the founding members of RavniBG.

Established as an informal civil network of environmental organizations in 1998, BlueLink  supports democracy, environmental protection and the implementation of the values of a united Europe, developing the capacity of civic organizations that share these goals to use the Internet strategically. At the center of BlueLink's work is the creation and maintenance of the civil action network BlueLink.net as a digital forum for independent exchange of information between them and with other participants in civil and political processes.

The editorial team of BlueLink selects the seven stories from among the initiatives and actions of the organizations that are members of RavniBG. They showcase the achievements and efforts of RavniBG's members in defence of human rights, the environment, women's and gender rights, the rule of law and other priority issues for the association, with a focus on the strategic use of digital technology.

After that, together with journalists associated with the BlueLink’s Evromegdan virtual newsroom, we collect more information and interview the persons acting in them. Finally, we publish them online in various genres, including extended reportage, feature, interview, live broadcast on the Internet, etc. In the realization of the stories, we apply the standards of quality journalism which BlueLink abides to.

The initiative aims to  increase public presence of  RavniBG, improve the recognition of the entity and its members’ activities. In addition, the seven stories by BlueLink demonstrate the results and impacts from the work of RavniBG and its members. By telling them, BlueLink improves the interaction and exchange of skills for the use of IIT among the members of RavniBG, thereby increasing their capacity.

Beyond the allocated funding, BlueLink is raising additional funds to publish the seven stories in a separate publication. You can help make it happen by making a donation here. Learn more about BlueLink's mission and activities here.
