The best chefs won a boat trip at the Danube River Festival in Belene

For the fifth year in a row the Municipality of Belene celebrated the International Day of the Danube River - June 29, with a festival. This year the event took place on July 2 and 3. A culinary competition "Danube Table" was held as part of the festival and the prize for the winners iwas a boat trip on the Danube, provided by BlueLink within the project DANube Urban Brand + Building Regional and Local Resilience through the Valorization of Danube’s Cultural Heritage (DANUrB+).

A total of 10 teams took part in the culinary competition. Apart from awards for the first three places: "Dimcho Debelyanov" school in Belene, community center "Vazrazhdane 1924" in Byala Voda, team "Kitka" from Kulina Voda, recognition was also given to the most innovative team - community center "Petar Parchevich - 1927" in Asenovo, the team with the best dessert - "Dekovchani"- in Dekov, as well as the youngest team - "Friends".

The award, a boat trip on the Danube River, was presented to the winning team in the form of a gift voucher. The award was provided by BlueLink within the project DANube Urban Brand + Building Regional and Local Resilience through the Valorization of Danube’s Cultural Heritage (DANUrB+). The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), as well as the national budget of Republic of Bulgaria through the budget of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.

During the festival days, on July 3, the BlueLink expert Gavrail Gavrailov held a talk on "Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Municipality of Belene", based on a study of intangible cultural heritage in the municipalities of Belene, Nikopol and Gulyantsi, implemented within the DANUrB+ project. The expert briefly presented the goals of the international project to the guests of the festival.
